SUMMARY

In this lesson, older students (6^th, 7^th, or 8^th grade) will create and deliver an autobiographical, multimedia presentation in another language. They will then mentor younger students (3^rd, or 4^th grade), teaching them the skills to create a similar presentation.

OBJECTIVES

· To introduce sixth and third grade students to the concept of a multimedia “All About Me” presentation (including digital images, drawn objects, clipart, and narrated recordings)

· To enable sixth grade students to work with third grade students in a technology mentoring environment.

· To improve the multimedia technology skills of sixth and third grade students

· To improve the Spanish language skills of sixth and third grade students.

PREREQUISITES

· Sixth graders knows how to create a simple presentation in HyperStudio or Powerpoint

MATERIALS

· Computers with microphones and speakers

· Spanish (or other language) dictionaries

· Hyperstudio or Powerpoint

· Collection of clipart with a gallery of pets and animals

· Completed “All About Me” worksheet – see Appendix 1

ACTIVITIES: TIME LINE

One Week - Technology	Create a small (3 card) exploratory stack to complete the prerequisites in either Hyperstudio, or Powerpoint
2-3 class periods – Language Arts/ Spanish	Complete “All About Me handouts” and compare to author studies in Language Arts and Spanish Classrooms. Written in both English and Spanish – See Appendix 1
4-5 class periods – Technology/ Spanish	Create a three card “All About Me” multimedia presentation (using either HyperStudio or Powerpoint) following the attached template. - Insert self picture from digital camera or scanner. - Create, using drawing tools - Insert appropriate clipart - Record responses in Spanish Language
1 class -technology/ Classroom	Practice presenting their completed “All About Me” presentations	Complete the third grade “All About Me” handout – See Appendix 1 Classroom teacher takes digital camera pictures, or scans photos
1 class – Classroom	Present “All About Me” to third graders	View sixth grade “All About Me” presentations. Start working on and saving their own.
